Health for Veterans

Description: The CARES Act includes funding for several health programs for veterans. The funding is administered through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The legislation expands coverage for veterans’ telehealth and mental health services, waives certain requirements for enrollments and renewals in health care programs, prevents certain suspensions and dis-enrollments from health care programs, eliminates certain costs and copays for COVID-19 testing, and prioritizes access to veterans in underserved and rural areas, low-income, and at increased risk of suicide and other mental health concerns.

Description: The CARES Act includes funding for veterans experiencing homelessness. The funding is intended to assist veterans getting treatment and provide support for homeless or at risk of eviction veterans. The funding is administered through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The following programs are funded: Health Care for Homeless Veterans, Supportive Services for Veterans Families and the Grant and Per Diem program.
